I built the rest of my hive today! Yay for completion of my life! Now just to find the bees... Susan and Brandon have offered me two nucs, but we haven't been in touch very often. Working with my dad on coordinating a time for me to go to Alford and talk about the bees and what to do around them.

Today I was invited to go with Brandon and Susan to a conference about advanced beekeeping in Mckinney. They will be discussing every thing from queen rearing to hive construction.

Today I contacted Brandon and Susan about constructing two top bar hives for the project. I learned a lot about top bar hives while at the conference. They're more organic and the bees are allowed to set up their hives as they would in nature rather than being confined to the four walls of the langstroth hives.

Today I took a test for the first hour, and researched when the best time to install hives in Texas is. So far it's looking like it'll be The beginning of April, or late March for both hives. That means the trip to Dadant and Sons to get the equipment necessary will need to be in late march.
